Court extends arrest of Metropolitan Arseny of Svyatogorsk for another 60 days

on November 3, 2025, the Cathedral Court of Dnipro extended the detention of the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Metropolitan Arseniy of Sviatogorsk for another 60 days. The decision was made late in the evening after the bishop suffered a hypertensive crisis during the meeting and required emergency medical assistance.

According to Telegram channel Raskolam.net, the metropolitan’s health deteriorated sharply during the court hearing. He was hospitalized in one of the hospitals in Dnipropetrovsk, where doctors provided him with the necessary assistance. Immediately afterwards, the hierarch was taken back to the courtroom to continue the trial.

Despite the serious health incident, the session was continued. At about 21:00 the court announced the decision to extend the measure of restraint in the form of detention in a pre-trial detention center for two months. The source also draws attention to the unusually late mode of work of the court for such a verdict.

We shall remind you that earlier we reported that the hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church published an open appeal to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky with a call to immediately release from custody the vicar of the Sviatogorsk Lavra, Metropolitan Arseniy (Yakovenko). The reason for the appeal was the critical health condition of the hierarch, who needs an urgent operation, and his repeated detention immediately after he posted bail.
