Head of OCU holds religious events in the Assumption Cathedral of Volodymyr-Volynskyi, previously taken away from UOC

The head of the OCU, Epiphany Dumenko, will hold religious events in the Holy Dormition Cathedral of Volodymyr-Volynsky, which was taken away from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was reported by Ukrainian MP Ihor Huz, who put pressure on local governments to speed up the expropriation of the property of the Vladimir-Volyn Diocese of the UOC.
According to the portal vsn.ua, the initiative was taken by MP Igor Guz, who invited the head of the OCU. «He agreed to my proposal to hold a service in the Assumption Cathedral in the near future. We are now coordinating all legal and organizational issues. Soon we will announce the date so that all interested believers can join the common prayer in the Ukrainian shrine,» the MP said.
During the meeting with Epiphanius Dumenko, Ihor Huz also discussed his appeal to the National Security and Defense Council with a demand to terminate the lease agreements with the UOC for two other significant spiritual centers of Volyn — Zymne Sviatohirsk and Holy Dormition Nyzkynitsky monasteries. «I consider it unacceptable that in the midst of a full-scale war these national treasures of the Ukrainian people continue to be under the control of the Moscow Patriarchate,» he emphasized.
As reported, Volyn Regional Council deputy Andriy Bokoch said that the state has plans to expropriate the complex of premises of the Holy Dormition Zymnenskyy Stavropegial Monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Bokoch noted that it would not be as easy to take away the Zymne monastery as, for example, the Cathedral of the Vladimir-Volyn Diocese of the UOC, but the mood for this step is quite decisive.
