The court rejected DESS's request to terminate the activities of Koretskiy nunnery

The Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal has rejected the application of the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) to secure a lawsuit in the case to stop the activity of the Koretskyi Holy Trinity Women’s Stavropegial Monastery of the Moscow Patriarchate. This decision does not terminate the lawsuit itself, but refuses to take temporary measures for the period of consideration of the case.

According to the official website of the State Ethnopolitical Service, the relevant ruling was issued by the court on November 6, 2025 in case No. 855/14/25. The State Ethnopolitics Service had previously filed a lawsuit demanding to stop the activities of the said religious organization. As part of this lawsuit, the agency asked the court to take interim measures, but this part of the lawsuit was denied.

Earlier, during a plenary session of the Verkhovna Rada, Ukrainian MP Solomiya Bobrovska called for «giving back to Ukraine» the Koretskyi Holy Trinity Convent of the Russian Orthodox Church. In her statement, she accused the nuns of the monastery of working for foreign secret services and said that religious organizations occupying monuments of national importance violated numerous laws.
