The court has appointed consideration of the case of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra on the merits on December 18

The Economic Court of Kyiv has scheduled for December 18 a hearing on the merits of the case concerning the Lower Lavra. During the preparatory session, which lasted almost the whole day, the court rejected all the procedural motions filed by the monastery’s representatives.

According to lawyer Nikita Chekman, the session lasted from 10:30 to 19:00. “As a result of the said session, unfortunately, the plaintiff’s side was denied all procedural motions,” – said the human rights activist.

In particular, the court refused to involve the brethren of the Lavra in the case as third parties, as well as rejected appeals to close the proceedings. After completion of preparatory actions, the court appointed the next meeting, at which the case will be considered on the merits, on December 18 at 12:30.

We will remind, earlier it became known that the Sixth administrative court of appeal rejected the application of the State service of Ukraine on ethno-politics and freedom of conscience (SESC) to secure the claim in the case on termination of the activities of Koretsky Holy Trinity women’s stauropegial monastery of the Moscow patriarchate. This decision does not terminate the lawsuit itself, but refuses to take interim measures while the case is pending.
