DESS approved the List of religious organizations in Ukraine affiliated with the ROC

The State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) has officially approved the list of religious organizations affiliated with a foreign religious structure, the activity of which is prohibited on the territory of Ukraine. The list includes the Kiev Metropolitanate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and Koretskyi Holy Trinity Women’s Stavropegial Monastery. This decision will entail legal consequences provided for by the legislation.

As reported on the official portal of the State Service of Ukraine on Ethno-politics and Freedom of Conscience, the decision was made in accordance with the Law of Ukraine «On Protection of the Constitutional Order in the Sphere of Activities of Religious Organizations». The approved list defines organizations whose connection with the centers of influence banned in the country has been officially confirmed.

The following religious organizations were included in the list:

  • Kyiv Metropolitanate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (USREOU Code: 21510633), based on decision No. N-101/11 of 08.07.2025.
  • Koretskiy Holy Trinity Women’s Stavropegial Monastery of the Moscow Patriarchate (USREOU Code: 13993497), based on Decision No. N-163/11 of 21.10.2025.

Inclusion in this list means that these organizations are recognized as affiliated with a foreign religious structure, the activities of which are prohibited in Ukraine. This, in turn, entails legal consequences determined by the relevant law.

We shall remind you that earlier we reported that the State Service of Ukraine for Ethno-politics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) appealed against the court decision that refused to take interim measures against the property and accounts of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. These measures were requested as part of a lawsuit to completely stop the activities of this religious organization on the territory of Ukraine due to its established ties with the Russian Orthodox Church.
