Pope calls for ceasefire and dialogue in Ukraine

Pope Leo XIV has called for an immediate cease-fire in Ukraine, which should be followed by a dialog to find ways to resolve the conflict.
According to Vatican News, the pontiff made this statement in the evening of November 18 while speaking to journalists. Responding to a question about the justice of peace, which may involve territorial concessions, the Pope said, «They should decide that: Ukraine’s constitution is very clear.»
«The problem is that if there is no ceasefire, if, let’s say, they don’t get to the point to start a dialog and look for ways to solve this problem, then unfortunately people will die every day,» the head of the Catholic Church said. He urged to search for peace, which, in his opinion, should begin with a ceasefire and subsequent dialog.
We shall remind you that earlier we reported that lobbyists of the ban of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church have intensified their activities in connection with the possible approaching end of the Russian-Ukrainian war. This opinion was expressed by a source of the «Strana.ua» publication in the Office of the President of Ukraine. According to him, different political groups are active under Volodymyr Zelensky, among which there are both supporters and opponents of banning the UOC. Both of them realize that during the negotiations the issue of banning the UOC is likely to be considered, which may lead to the repeal of the scandalous anti-church law No 3894.
