Order of the Archons of Constantinople in the United States accuses UOC of persecuting and killing OCU supporters

The Order of the Archons of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in the United States has made harsh accusations against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), saying that it persecutes and attacks members of the OCU. This statement was made in response to a meeting of a delegation of US Orthodox churches with American politicians, where they discussed the plight of the canonical UOC.

According to the Telegram channel “Chrysma”, the reason for the reaction was the meeting of the Orthodox delegation with representatives of the Congress and the administration of Donald Trump. In response, the Order of the Archons sent an open letter to US House of Representatives member Joe Wilson. In the letter, the organization thanked the congressman for drawing attention to “Russia’s use of the Orthodox Church as an instrument of its aggressive foreign policy.”

However, the document goes on to make serious accusations against the UOC. The archons claim that it is the “pro-Moscow” UOC that persecutes the “canonical” OCU, which received autocephaly from the Ecumenical Patriarch in 2019.

In his letter, the head of the Order of Archons, Anthony Limberakis, described the actions of the UOC as follows: “This splinter group, which is an arm of the Moscow Patriarchate, is now attacking and killing members of the canonical Orthodox Church in Ukraine, attacking civilians to sow terror among the population and intimidate them so that they do not join the canonical Orthodox Church of Ukraine.

Earlier, we reported that U.S. Congresswoman Anna Pauline Luna harshly criticized her colleague, Congressman Joe Wilson, and accused the Ukrainian government of religious persecution. The reason for this was Wilson’s public attacks on a delegation of Orthodox hierarchs who arrived in Washington to discuss the situation of believers in Ukraine.
