Representatives of the Orthodox clergy discussed persecution of the UOC with a US congressman

A delegation of Orthodox clergy met with U.S. Congressman Daryl Issa in Washington, D.C., to discuss the situation surrounding the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The main topic of the dialog was the ongoing religious persecution of believers. The event was reported by the co-chair of the Federation of Young Republicans of the United States Katherine Whiteford.

Reportedly, the meeting discussed the challenges facing the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Participants of the dialog focused on the protection of the rights of believers and freedom of religion.

Catherine Whiteford expressed gratitude to the Congressman for his participation and leadership on this issue. “We are grateful for his leadership as vice chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and, as an Orthodox Christian from Antioch, for his deep understanding of the challenges faced by persecuted Christians around the world, she wrote in X.

At the end of her message, the young politician emphasized the importance of the conversation and thanked the congressman for his “dedication to the defense of religious freedom.”

Recall, earlier we reported that the Order of Archons of the Patriarchate of Constantinople in the United States made sharp accusations against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC), saying that it persecutes and attacks members of the OCU. The statement was made in response to a meeting between a delegation of US Orthodox churches and US politicians, where the plight of the canonical UOC was discussed.
