In Volyn region 265 religious figures received reservations from mobilization

As of November 2025, 265 religious figures in Volyn region of Ukraine received reservations from mobilization. All of the booked persons are leaders of religious organizations that have been recognized as critical for the functioning of the state and ensuring the vital activity of the population during the special period.

This information was provided by the first deputy head of the State Service of Ukraine for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS), Viktor Voynalovych, in response to an official request, bug.org.ua reported. According to him, a total of 633 religious organizations in the region are included in the corresponding list. According to the current legislation, only the leaders of these organizations who are under 60 years of age and have up-to-date military registration documents have the right for reservation.

The terms of validity of the reservation were distributed as follows: 217 executives were granted deferment until June 6, 2026, and another 48 until October 9, 2026. The difference in terms is explained by the dates of approval and updating of the lists of critical organizations by orders of the DESS.

We shall remind you that earlier we reported that the State Service of Ukraine on Ethno-politics and Freedom of Conscience published a list of criteria according to which religious figures can be granted deferment from mobilization. According to the said list, clergymen of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will not be able to be reserved from mobilization, as the UOC falls under the anti-church law No. 3894.
