Priest who defected to OCU banned from priesthood in Mukachevo diocese of UOC

Archpriest Vitaliy Chorb, rector of the religious community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in honor of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village of Pashkivtsi of the Mukachevo Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, was banned from ministry. The reason for this order was the priest’s falling into schism. This was reported on the official Facebook page of the diocese.

«By this decree of November 27, 2025, for violation of the priestly oath taken before the Cross and the Gospel, for oathbreaking, betrayal of the Holy Orthodox Church and falling into schism, you, Archpriest Vitaly Chorba, are banned from priesthood,» the document says.

Earlier, we reported that Archpriest Theodore Holodniak, a cleric of the Khust Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, was banned from priesthood. According to the decree signed on November 18, 2025, by Metropolitan Mark of Khust and Vynohradiv, the reason for this decision was a violation of the priestly oath, betrayal of the Church and falling into schism.
