"Shalom, Orthodox!": DESS congratulated the Jewish community of Ukraine on Hanukkah

On Thursday, December 7, the Jewish community around the world, including Ukraine, began celebrating Hanukkah. In this regard, the State Service of Ukraine on Ethno-politics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) issued an official congratulatory message.
According to the official website of the DESS, «Hanukkah, which is also called the Festival of Lights, for more than two millennia has served as a reminder of the steadfastness of faith and the permanence of the miracle». In its address, the agency expressed warm wishes to all who celebrate this holy holiday.
The text of the greeting emphasizes the deep symbolism of the holiday: «May the fire of Hanukkah candles strengthen hearts, dispel darkness and give confidence in the victory of good over evil, peace over hate, life over fear. Hag Hanukkah Sameach! Happy Hanukkah!».
Recall, February 28, 2025, the State Service of Ukraine on ethno-politics and freedom of conscience congratulated the Muslims of Ukraine with the beginning of Ramadan (Muslim fast, — ed.). At the same time, there is no mention of the Christian Lent, which began on March 3 for Orthodox and Greek Catholics.
