Volyn regional council deputy demanded to check the presence of UOC churches in state institutions

At a session of the Volyn regional council, MP Andriy Bokoch initiated an initiative to check the religious facilities of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) operating at state and municipal institutions in the region. The main reason for the request was the deputy’s concern about “possible control of these facilities by the Moscow Patriarchate and their potential use for spreading pro-Russian propaganda”.
According to the regional edition of BUG, the request was addressed to the head of the Volyn OVA Ivan Rudnytskyy on December 17. It concerns churches and chapels located in medical institutions, coal mining enterprises, schools, rehabilitation centers, social institutions, military units and other state and communal property.
Andrei Bokoch expressed serious concerns that among these religious buildings may be those that, according to him, “belong to a hostile patriarchate, supervised from Moscow”. The MP emphasized that such facilities could serve as platforms for pro-Russian propaganda and be part of a “subversive network” that threatens national security.
Andriy Bokoch’s deputy request received support among his colleagues in the regional council. Now Ivan Rudnytskyy is expected to give an official response containing precise information about the presence of such cult formations of the UOC at state and communal institutions of Volyn region, as well as the results of the corresponding inspection.
We shall remind you that earlier we reported that the employees of the Third City Hospital of Cherkasy held a meeting at which it was decided to transfer the hospital chapel in honor of the Apostle Luke, arranged by the Cherkasy diocese of the UOC, under the control of the PCU.
