In Greece, a politician called the abortion law "excellent"

Greek Voice of Reason party leader Afroditi Latinopoulou has taken a clear stance on Greece’s abortion law, saying that the current legislation is «excellent» and strikes a balance between women’s rights and embryo protection. However, on a personal level, she would not have an abortion except in extremely rare cases such as rape. This is reported by Vima Orthodoxias.

Latinopoulou’s statements came amid a fierce public debate sparked by Maria Caristiano’s recent remarks on the issue of abortion. Latinopoulou emphasized that her personal and religious beliefs do not allow her to go for abortion except in exceptional circumstances. Nevertheless, she made it clear that there is no question of revising the law because, according to her, the existing legal framework reliably protects women in difficult or violent circumstances.

The Voice of Reason leader paid special attention to the issue of awareness. She believes that «the real problem is not the law, but the lack of correct information for young girls.» Latinopoulou noted that in some cases abortion is misunderstood as a method of contraception. In her opinion, this is a failure of the state in the field of prevention, health education and educational policy, which should be carried out by the Ministry of Education.

Recall that we previously reported that the German government continues to send millions of euros to international organizations promoting abortion, despite its claims that it does not support abortion rights abroad. This information was disclosed in response to a parliamentary inquiry by AfD MP Beatrix von Storch.
