Ministry of Culture closes Kyiv Cave Monastery to visitors due to power supply problems

The National Reserve «Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra» (subordinated to the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine — ed.) announced the temporary closure of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra to visitors. The reason for this decision was the «difficult energy situation caused by regular enemy shelling,» which led to a complete lack of electricity, water and heat supply on the territory of the Lavra.

According to the official report of the reserve, the critical situation with utilities made it impossible to receive visitors. The administration of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra Conservation Area apologized for the inconvenience and expressed gratitude for understanding the situation.

Information about the exact date and time of the reopening of the reserve will be published additionally on its official pages.

On January 20, a working meeting was held in Kyiv to prepare for the celebration of the 975th anniversary of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, which will take place in 2026. The event was attended by officials from various government agencies and the head of the OCU Epiphany Dumenko.
