The Ministry of Culture will hold a scientific conference on the history of museum work in Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

The National Reserve «Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra» will be the venue for the Fifth All-Ukrainian Scientific Conference «History of Humanitarianism XIX-XXI centuries: institutions of memory and heritage spaces». The event, scheduled for January 15-16, is timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the recognition of the territory of Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra as a historical and cultural state reserve «All-Ukrainian Museum Town», which emphasizes its importance for the preservation and study of cultural heritage.

According to the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, this conference is one of the key scientific events of the Reserve, opening the research year, forming scientific priorities and strengthening the authority of the institution as a center of professional research in the field of history of humanities.

The conference participants — scholars, representatives of museum institutions, academic institutions and higher education institutions of Ukraine — will focus on the study of the institutional history of centers of preservation, interpretation and popularization of the country’s cultural heritage. Discussions will focus on the activities of museum institutions, libraries, archives, as well as societies for the protection of monuments.

In addition, the event will consider important milestones in the formation and development of intellectual networks, as well as the fundamental principles and traditions of scientific activity in Ukraine.

The conference format includes plenary and breakout sessions, as well as a poster session. For those who will not be able to attend in person, there is an opportunity to participate online. After the conference participants will have the opportunity to publish their materials in a specialized publication of the National Reserve «Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra».

Recall, earlier we reported that the National Reserve «Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra» and the OCU signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation. The document, concluded on December 31, 2025, is aimed at «joint activities to ensure the preservation and proper use of sacred objects of national cultural heritage, in particular the Near and Far Caves, as well as the relics of reverends».
