Patriarch John X of Antioch met with a British delegation in Damascus

John X, Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, held an official meeting with representatives of the United Kingdom at his residence in Damascus. According to Vima Orthodoxias, the talks took place on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

The British delegation included Barry Peach, the United Kingdom’s Special Envoy for Syria, and David Hunt, Head of the Syria Desk at the British Foreign Office. During the talks, the parties discussed a wide range of current issues.

Particular attention was paid during the meeting to current developments within the Syrian Arab Republic, as well as to the overall geopolitical situation unfolding in the Middle East.

As a reminder, on June 24, 2026, in Jerusalem , a meeting took place between the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem, Patriarch Theophilos III, and the “Archbishop” of Canterbury, Sarah Mallalli.
