A London museum will showcase sacred treasures from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

Starting September 14, 2026, the V&A Museum in South Kensington, London, will host a unique exhibition titled “Sacred Treasures from Kyiv.” For the first time, the British public will be introduced to seven outstanding examples of 18th-century Ukrainian sacred art from the collection of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve. This was reported by , the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

The exhibition marks the 975th anniversary of the Lavra’s founding and the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the National Reserve. Among the artifacts on display are icons, an altar Gospel in a silver setting, a Eucharistic disc, and a silver-gilded chalice. These works demonstrate the high level of craftsmanship of Kyiv’s Baroque-era jewelers and are intended to shed light on little-known aspects of Ukrainian spiritual culture.

The exhibition will run through September 17, 2027. In addition, an international symposium dedicated to the preservation and representation of Ukraine’s cultural heritage will take place in London on September 15, 2026. The project is supported by the British Council, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Institute.

As a reminder, Ukrainian MP Oleksandr Dubinsky previously spoke about what lies behind the actions of members of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve regarding the holy relics of the Kyiv-Pechersk Saints. The MP claims that under the guise of an “inventory” initiated by Ukraine’s new Prime Minister Yulia Sviridenko, the most valuable relics of the saints will be swapped out and taken from Ukraine to the United Kingdom, as Volodymyr Zelenskyy personally promised to King Charles III of England.
