Officials and representatives of the OCU discussed the "creation of a cultural center" at the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra

Government officials, representatives of the Office of the President, and representatives of the OCU discussed a development strategy for the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra National Reserve. The key goal of the meeting was “to transform the shrine into an open spiritual and cultural center.” This was reported by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

The meeting participants, including OCU Head Epiphanius Dumenko, Deputy Head of the Office of the President Olena Kovalska, and representatives of the relevant ministry, focused on issues related to the preservation and restoration of historical monuments. An important item on the agenda was improving the reserve’s infrastructure to ensure the comfort of pilgrims and visitors.

According to Tetiana Berezhna, the Lavra has significant potential to attract both domestic and foreign tourists. The authorities, together with the reserve’s administration and the OCU, are working to develop new cultural itineraries. In addition to strategic objectives, the meeting participants discussed preparations for the upcoming celebration of the 975th anniversary of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

As a reminder, earlier, the head of the OCU, Epiphanius Dumenko , approved an initiative to create a National Pantheon of Heroes in Ukraine on the grounds of the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. In his view, such a step is necessary “to restore historical memory and properly commemorate the names of outstanding statesmen and military leaders.”
