In Britain, there is growing interest in Christianity among military personnel

There has been a noticeable increase in interest in the Christian faith among members of the British Armed Forces, as evidenced by a rise in the number of baptisms, church attendance, and increased demand for Bibles. According to Christian Today ( ), this spiritual revival is being observed both at training centers and in active barracks, which many attribute to young recruits’ search for meaning and purpose in life.

Dr. Martin Glinczki, executive director of the Soldiers and Airmen’s Scripture Readers Association (SASRA), notes a clear increase in interest in spirituality and the Word of God. Statistics provided by the Royal Army Chaplaincy Department show significant progress: for example, at the Army Training Regiment in Winchester, 26 people were baptized or confirmed in October 2025. A similar trend is observed at the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst and the Pirbright Training Center, where the number of baptisms rose by 37.5% between 2024 and 2025.

Representatives of military religious organizations emphasize that communication with service members has become more open, and the level of skepticism toward faith has noticeably decreased. This is evidenced not only by the growth in the number of individual and group Bible studies but also by operational metrics: in 2025, the Naval and Military Bible Society distributed 75,000 publications, and this year that figure has already reached 80,000 copies. Although the total strength of the British armed forces is declining, SASRA has been forced to expand its staff from 13 to 21 people to meet the growing spiritual demand.

Although experts remain cautious in their assessments due to recent controversies surrounding data on the religious affiliation of the British population, SASRA’s leadership is convinced that what is happening within the armed forces is a significant and profound process. As Dr. Glinczki notes, “even though our armed forces are now the smallest in modern history, the harvest remains bountiful.”
