"This time because of frost": "Zapovednik" again closed Kiev-Pechersk Lavra

The National Reserve «Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra» temporarily suspended the reception of visitors from February 3. The decision to close was made due to a sharp deterioration in weather conditions and a critical drop in temperature to ensure the protection of cultural heritage objects, as well as the health of guests and employees.
As reported by Kyiv-Pechersk «reserve» in Facebook, the administration informed about the temporary changes in its work through the official pages in social networks. It is noted that the closure is a necessary measure to prevent potential damage to both the ancient structures and to ensure the safety of people in conditions of severe winter weather.
The message of the administration emphasizes that this is «a necessary decision aimed at protecting the objects of cultural heritage, as well as the health of our guests and employees. As soon as it gets warmer outside, we will return to the usual mode». At the same time, internal works in the lavra do not stop, despite the temporary absence of visitors.
The reserve urges visitors to follow the updates of the schedule of work on their official pages to be aware of the resumption of access.
Earlier we reported that the National Reserve «Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra» (subordinate to the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine — ed.) announced the temporary closure of the Holy Assumption Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra for visitors. The reason for this decision was the «difficult energy situation caused by the next enemy shelling», which led to a complete absence of electricity, water and heat supply on the territory of the Lavra.
