Chernivtsi Eparchy of UOC to appeal in court against decision to transfer Cathedral to OCU

The Chernivtsi Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will file an appeal against the decision of the Economic Court of the Chernivtsi region to transfer the Holy Spirit Cathedral of the UOC of Chernivtsi to the OCU. This is reported in the Facebook group “Faithful of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchy of the UOC”.

It is noted that the decision to transfer the Holy Spirit Cathedral of the UOC in Chernivtsi to the ownership of the OCU can be appealed within 20 days from the date of the order of the court of first instance. It is planned that the appeal will be considered by the Western Economic Court of Appeal.

As we reported earlier, on January 21, 2026, the Economic Court of the Chernivtsi Region ruled that the Administration of the Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) is obliged to vacate and transfer the Holy Spirit Cathedral, as well as the hotel and boiler room located at 85 Holovna Street, Chernivtsi, to the OCU. The court decision is to be enforced with the signing of an act of acceptance and transfer of property.
