Robert Amsterdam thanks American politicians for their participation in the release of Metropolitan Arseniy

The head of the international human rights company Amsterdam & Partners LLP, Robert Amsterdam, who represents the legal interests of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, expressed his deep gratitude to all those who contributed to the release of the UOC hierarch, Metropolitan Arseny of Sviatohirsk, from the pre-trial detention center. The lawyer especially noted the role of Orthodox public and political figures from the United States.
In his post on the social network X, human rights activist Robert Amsterdam emphasized that the efforts to free the bishop united both the legal team in Ukraine and international supporters of the UOC. He noted that Metropolitan Arseniy had been in detention for almost two years without trial.
The lawyer especially thanked the Metropolitan’s local lawyer, Dr. Peter Flu, as well as all those who participated in the UOC Congress Day of Action. Among them were Kathryn Whiteford, co-chair of the Young Republican Federation of the United States, and Stefano Lorte, chairman of the Young Republicans of New York. Amsterdam also expressed its gratitude to the monastic community of Sviatohirsk, which, having survived the bombing, remained a source of moral and spiritual support.
Earlier it was reported that the Ukrainian authorities suspended the implementation of the plan to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) and its merger with the OCU after the intervention of the American side. According to political analyst Mykhailo Pavliv, the plan was put on hold because of the position of US Vice President J.D. Vance, who oversees the domestic political situation in Ukraine.
