Ukrainian authorities suspend plan to ban UOC after US intervention

The Ukrainian authorities have suspended the implementation of the plan to ban the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) and its merger with the OCU after the intervention of the US side. According to political analyst Mykhailo Pavliv, the plan was put on hold because of the position of US Vice President J.D. Vance, who oversees the domestic political situation in Ukraine. He said this on the air of Oleksandr Shelest’s YouTube channel.
According to Pavliv, the plan to destroy the UOC began to be implemented in the summer, and in August-September, specific steps were outlined: by the end of October, it was planned to completely ban the UOC, expel His Beatitude Onufriy from the country and hold an extraordinary synod to unite the church with the OCU. However, after Vance’s intervention, all legislative and judicial processes against the UOC were frozen. In addition, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who played an active role in these events, was summoned to the United States, where he was demanded to stop such actions.
Earlier, we reported that the consideration of the case on the liquidation of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC) was postponed indefinitely. The reason for this decision was the lack of necessary case materials in the court of first instance.
