UOC-KP calls for prayers for Filaret Denisenko amid deteriorating health

on March 9, 2026, the 97-year-old head of the UOC-KP Filaret Denisenko was hospitalized in a Kyiv medical institution due to a deterioration in his health. The press service of the UOC-KP appealed to all the faithful to offer fervent prayers for his speedy recovery.

According to Cerkva.info, the head of the UOC-KP is currently under constant medical supervision, receiving all the necessary medical care. Details about the diagnosis or prognosis have not yet been disclosed.

In connection with this news, the hierarchs, clergy and all the faithful are called to intensified prayer for the health and speedy recovery of the head of the UOC-KP, expressing hope for his soon return to ministry.

Earlier, the head of the Sumy Diocese of the UOC-KP, Nikodim Kobzar, issued a statement in which he accused Filaret Denisenko’s blood relatives of his abduction and collusion with the OCU. According to the statement, the head of the UOC-KP was taken to St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Monastery under the influence of psychotropic substances to sign documents. The hierarch claims that this was done against the will of the head of the UOC-KP and declares his firm intention to preserve the «Kyiv Patriarchate».
