Head of the UGCC and Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine discuss church-state partnership

on March 11, the head of the UGCC, Sviatoslav Shevchuk, met with the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kyrylo Budanov, in Kyiv. According to the official website of the UGCC, the parties discussed the history and current mission of the church, as well as the prospects for partnership with the state.

It is reported that the parties discussed the current state of the UGCC, which has 36 dioceses and exarchates in the world, and its role in social service, assistance to victims of war, and strengthening civil society. Sviatoslav Shevchuk noted that the number of UGCC faithful had increased by about 1.5 times during the full-scale war.

After the meeting, Kyrylo Budanov visited the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, where he familiarized himself with its architecture and humanitarian mission. The head of the UGCC assured of the church’s readiness to develop partnerships with the state to serve the Ukrainian people.
