The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation allocates more than $1 billion to support abortion in Africa, Asia and Latin America

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, along with other billionaires, has announced the allocation of more than $1 billion to support projects aimed at promoting abortion in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The funds will be allocated to TED’s Audacious Project initiative, the key recipient of which will be the Ipas organization, which lobbies for the legalization of abortion in countries with strong pro-life positions. This is reported by LifeSiteNews.

The program will cover 10 countries, including Ethiopia, Kenya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, India and Pakistan. To implement the plans, Ipas needs $350 million. The funds will be used not only to distribute vacuum equipment for abortion, but also to change legislation and introduce a system of «self-help» that will allow abortion drugs to be obtained through pharmacies without medical supervision. Experts note that private funding from billionaires should compensate for the reduction in government grants from USAID.

Earlier, we reported that the European Commission announced a decision allowing member states to use funds from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) to finance access to abortion. This decision, adopted on February 26, 2026, has sparked intense debate, as it effectively integrates abortion support into EU equality and social support programs.
