Metropolitan Arseny of Svyatogorsk underwent heart surgery in Kyiv

on March 18, 2026, Metropolitan Arseniy of Sviatogorsk underwent a scheduled heart surgery in a clinic in Kyiv. The surgical intervention was successful, despite the general weakened state of health of the hierarch after a long stay in detention. This is reported by the press service of the UOC.

Preparations for the operation began immediately after the vladyka was released from the pre-trial detention center on February 25. Medical examination revealed serious problems with the cardiovascular system, requiring immediate intervention. Specialists note that the condition of the vicar’s body has deteriorated due to the lack of proper medical supervision during the almost two years he spent in the isolation center.

Currently, the Metropolitan is recovering from the procedures. Representatives of the Sviatogorsk monastery expressed their gratitude to the doctors and addressed to the flock with a request for increased prayers for the health and speedy recovery of their vicar.

Recall, earlier we reported that the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Metropolitan of Sviatogorsk Arseny was released from the detention center under house arrest. This decision was made during the court session, which took place on February 25, 2026 in the Chechelovsky district court of the city of Dnipro.
