US State Department expresses condolences on the death of Filaret Denisenko

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has sent official condolences to representatives of the UOC-KP on the death of its head Filaret Denisenko. In his address, the head of U.S. diplomacy emphasized the importance of the deceased’s life for the formation of Ukraine’s modern identity.

According to the press service of the State Department, Marco Rubio characterized Filaret’s activities as “sustained service” that was a key factor in determining the spiritual face of the country in important historical periods. The Secretary of State emphasized that the United States mourns with the faithful of the Ukrainian Orthodox community and expresses its sincere condolences.

According to the head of the US State Department, Denisenko’s spiritual heritage will continue to play an important role in the national and religious life of Ukraine.
