UOC-KP appoints new hierarchs and changes the composition of the Synod in a few days

on March 27 and 29, 2026, new hierarchs of the UOC-KP were appointed in Sumy. The events, led by the new head of the organization, Nikodim Kobzar, took place at the Epiphany Cathedral of the Sumy Diocese of the UOC-KP. In addition, earlier the organization also identified permanent members of the Synod of the UOC-KP. This was reported on the organization’s Facebook account.

It is reported that on March 27 and 29, as part of the religious events held in the Epiphany Cathedral of the UOC-KP in Sumy, the head of the organization, Nikodim Kobzar, appointed the head of the Kherson Diocese of the UOC-KP and the vicar of the Kyiv Diocese of the UOC-KP. They are the secretary of the Kherson diocese of the UOC-KP, Ioann Kovaluk, and Yevhen Skrypka.

In addition, on March 27, the organization renewed the permanent members of the Synod. In the end, Nikodim Kobzar performed an «absentee funeral service» for the former head of the UOC-KP Filaret Denisenko, which was performed on the 9th day after his death.

As reported, on March 23, the head of the UOC-KP, Nikodim Kobzar, signed a decree according to which the UOC-KP Chancellor, Andriy Marutsak, lost his administrative powers. The decision of the head of the structure significantly changes the composition of the organization’s management staff.
