Volodymyr Zelensky met with the leaders of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy held an official meeting with representatives of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches and Religious Organizations (AUCCRO), expressing gratitude to them for their multifaceted support of the Ukrainian people and the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the conditions of war. The Head of State emphasized that the unity of religious leaders is an important factor in strengthening the resilience of the country and its citizens.

According to the official website of the Head of State, the meeting was timed to the 30th anniversary of the founding of the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches. The President noted that the activities of the organization today are aimed at the common victory: «I want to thank you for the fact that our Council of Churches as well as every person in our state is working for victory, supporting our soldiers and civilians». Bishop Alexander Zan-Fabian, who presides over the Council, in turn emphasized that it is the spiritual strength of the population that determines the overall endurance of a nation.

During the dialog the leaders of various confessions touched upon topical issues of interaction with the state. The participants paid special attention to the development of the institute of chaplaincy. The head of the Union of Evangelical Christians-Baptists Valery Antonyuk proposed to establish at the state level the Day of Military Chaplain, noting the importance of supporting the spirit of defenders on the front line. Bishop of the RCC Vitaly Kryvitsky pointed out the need to expand programs to support Ukrainian families, and senior bishop of the UCCEV Anatoliy Kozachok stressed the readiness of churches to help citizens overcome psychological trauma and stress.

Summarizing the results, Volodymyr Zelensky assured that all the proposals voiced would be studied by the relevant government agencies. The President reiterated the state’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at strengthening assistance to the military and civilian population in this difficult time.
