"Will they steal here too?": The tender for the arrangement of the public garden on the site of the demolished UOC church in Ivano-Frankivsk was won by a "murky" contractor

In Ivano-Frankivsk, a curious situation is unfolding around the construction of a public garden on the site of the demolished Transfiguration Church of the Ivano-Frankivsk Eparchy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, announced by the local mayor Ruslan Marcinkiv. The city authorities plan to attract a contractor registered in 2024, for whom the contract with the city council may become the first this year, to equip the green area at 6 Chernivola Street. Moreover, the firm became the only participant of the tender announced by the city council.

According to the publication Informator Ivano-Frankivsk, the only participant and the winner of the tender was SpetsStroyMontazh-Engineering LLC. The Department of Improvement of Ivano-Frankivsk City Council held a tender for the relevant works, the expected cost of which amounted to more than 5.7 million hryvnias. The company offered to perform the work for 5,709,468 hryvnias, which allowed the city to save about 21 thousand hryvnias from the originally announced amount.

According to the technical documentation, the project includes a large-scale complex of works on territory improvement. The contractor shall carry out preparatory works, install storm water drainage and outdoor lighting system, install curbs, lay pavement, as well as build a retaining wall and stairs. Special attention will be paid to landscaping and fencing. All works should be completed by August 1, 2026.

According to the analytical platform YouControl, the winning company was registered in Ivano-Frankivsk in February 2024 with authorized capital of UAH 1 million. The main activity of the firm is the construction of residential and non-residential buildings. It is noteworthy that this contract may become the first official agreement of the company in the current year.

It should be noted that since the demolition of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Church of the UOC in Ivano-Frankivsk, the city authorities have repeatedly changed their plans as to what will be built instead of the church. Initially it was a kindergarten, and later the city authorities announced the construction of a comprehensive school. Now the mayor of the city declares the creation of a public garden on the site of the seized and destroyed UOC temple.
