A peaceful protest in defense of former Metropolitan Tikhikos will be held in Paphos

A peaceful demonstration is planned in the Cypriot city of Paphos on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in support of former Metropolitan Tihikos of Paphos and in protest against current developments in the church hierarchy.

According to Orthodoxia News Agency, citing the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), the event will start at 3:30pm in the square in front of Paphos Town Hall. According to the organizers, the initiative is aimed at expressing strong protest against what they call the «discrediting of the Church», as well as public support for the former metropolitan.

The protesters plan to demand the full restoration of the hierarch’s rights and strict observance of the Holy Canons. According to the program of the event, after the end of the rally in the square there will be a solemn procession to the building of the Metropolitanate of Paphos for the official presentation of the demands of the supporters of the hierarch.
