More than 30 Cameroonians have embraced Orthodoxy in the new parish of the Russian Orthodox Church

At the end of April 2026, a solemn event took place in the Cameroonian village of Ntui: 37 local residents officially entered the fold of the Russian Orthodox Church. The reception of believers took place in the newly formed parish in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, located in the central province of the country.

According to the OrthoChristian publication, the April 25 ceremony was led by priests Pavel Atangana and Herman Mbarga, dean of the Central and Western Church Districts of Cameroon. On this day, 25 people received Holy Baptism, and another 12 residents were joined to the Church through the Sacrament of Chrismation.

Immediately after the completion of the sacraments, a Divine Liturgy was served during which the newly converted Christians received Holy Communion for the first time in their lives. Each new member of the community was given memorable gifts — icons and Orthodox prayer books. It is noted that the missionary work in the parish of St. Nicholas continues: at present, a group of ovangelized are being prepared to accept the faith through regular catechism classes.

Mass baptisms are becoming a regular practice for the African region. Earlier it was reported that in June 2024 in Cameroon to the African exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church simultaneously joined more than 50 people who previously belonged to one of the non-canonical religious groups.

Recall that in the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a solemn reception of thirteen new members into the fold of the Church took place. A group of local residents, consisting of ten adults and three children, received the sacrament of baptism on Great Saturday, April 11, 2026, on the eve of the celebration of Holy Resurrection.
