Orthodox parish in Spain becomes part of UOC-KP

The Orthodox parish of Christ the Savior, located in the city of Denia (Alicante Province, Spain), was officially accepted into the UOC-KP. The corresponding decision was made on May 7, 2026. This was announced by the head of the organization, Nikodim Kobzar.

“Today, on May 7, 2026, Patriarch Nikodim of Kyiv and All Rus-Ukraine, Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate, granted the request and accepted the parish of Christ the Savior in Denia, Alicante Province, Spain, into the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Kyiv Patriarchate,” Kobzar wrote on his Facebook account.

As reported, on May 2, 2026, the UOC-KP officially expanded its borders to include new hierarchs and parishes abroad. According to the head of the Kyiv Patriarchate, Nikodim Kobzar, the organization accepted the former head of the so-called Church of True Orthodox Christians of Greece (Greek: Ἐκκλησία Γνησίων Ὀρθοδόξων Χριστιανῶν), Yakov Yannakis, who will head the diocese of the UOC-KP in Greece.
