Metropolitan Hilarion continues to be questioned for more than six hours in the Czech Republic as part of the investigation into the "drugs" case

Metropolitan Hilarion, the hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church, has been under interrogation by law enforcement agencies in the Czech Republic for more than six hours after a car was detained in the Central Bohemian region. The incident is linked to an anonymous report of possible transportation of narcotic substances, but the bishop categorically denies any accusations against him.
According to the Metropolitan’s author’s Telegram channel, investigative actions began at 10:30 local time (09:30 Moscow time) and are still continuing without interruption. The basis for the detention of the vehicle was an anonymous denunciation. According to the Czech edition Novinky with reference to Lucy Shmoldasova, a representative of the National Center for Drug Control, the police are checking information about illegal trafficking of psychotropic and narcotic substances.
The Kladno City Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the fact that procedural actions are being carried out. At the moment, two suspects are in custody, but formal charges have not yet been brought against anyone. The Metropolitan’s defense is represented by attorney JUDr. Michal Pacovský, who promised to give a detailed comment on the position of the defense and the conditions of detention of his client immediately after the completion of the interrogation.
Earlier, Metropolitan Hilarion’s defense made an official statement about the incident in Karlovy Vary, during which containers with an unknown substance were found in the clergyman’s car, and the bishop himself was arrested by the Czech police. According to Metropolitan Hilarion in his official statement, the defense side regards the incident as a planned provocation and insists on an independent examination and strict observance of procedural norms.
