Christian pilgrims in the Knesset expressed remorse for their countries' lack of support for Israel

The Israeli parliament hosted the 10th session of the “Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast,” during which foreign Christian pilgrims publicly repented before God for their countries’ policies toward Israel. Participants from Europe, Asia, and the Americas stated that their nations had effectively left Israel alone during a difficult period.
According to A News, the delegates asked for forgiveness for their governments’ opposition to the actions of the Israeli authorities. During the meeting, Sarah Zhu from China called on her compatriots to “love and support Israel,” while representatives from the UK, Clive and Jane Urquhart, repented for the rise of anti-Semitism in their country. Also participating in the session was German representative Harald Eckert, who recalled the tragedy of the Holocaust with the phrase “never again.”
Despite the religious nature of the event, the initiative sparked a wave of criticism on social media. Many users described the event as “diplomatic absurdity,” pointing out that private groups of individuals have no legitimate authority to make such statements on behalf of entire nations within the walls of a foreign country’s government institution.
As a reminder, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu previously stated in his official Easter address that his country is the only state in the region that guarantees the safety of Christians and protects their freedom of religion. The head of government emphasized the authorities’ intention to safeguard the rights of believers even amid a complex geopolitical situation and external threats.
