The Primate of the Polish Orthodox Church sent a letter of support to the monastic community of the Svyatogorsk Lavra

His Beatitude Metropolitan Sava of Warsaw and All Poland sent words of comfort and spiritual support to the monks and parishioners of the Holy Dormition Svyatogorsk Lavra, which is currently located in an active combat zone. The letter from the Primate was read at the monastery on June 7, 2026, on All Saints’ Sunday, following the Divine Liturgy.
According to the Information and Education Department of the UOC, citing the monastery’s press service, in his message His Beatitude emphasized that the Lord calls believers to participate in Calvary, which is invariably followed by the Resurrection. “Jesus calls us to seek peace in our hearts and the gifts of the Spirit from heaven,” noted Metropolitan Sava, emphasizing the importance of maintaining inner peace in times of severe trials.
The text of the letter also contains words of encouragement for the “small flock” and assurances of the Polish Orthodox Church’s constant prayerful support. The Primate expressed confidence that “Easter morning is near” and gave the clergy his archpastoral blessing, urging them to persevere during this difficult time.
As a reminder, the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church (PAOC) has once again reaffirmed its position regarding the need to resolve the ecclesiastical conflict related to the creation of the OCU at the Pan-Orthodox Council.
