The spiritual leader of Iran's Jewish community called for retaliatory measures following the murder of Ali Khamenei

Rabbi Younes Hamami Lalezar, the spiritual leader of Iran’s Jewish community, issued a strongly worded statement at the conference “Fulfilling the Promise of Revenge,” calling for the physical destruction of those responsible for the assassination of Muslim leader Ali Khamenei. According to World Israel News, this initiative was justified by religious texts as an act of restoring justice.

During his speech, Rabbi Lalezar cited biblical precepts, emphasizing that land desecrated by the shedding of blood requires purification through “blood vengeance.” According to the religious leader, retribution in this context is not an expression of anger, but rather the exercise of a legitimate right to justice for a grave crime committed in February 2026.

The rabbi also drew a clear distinction between the Jewish faith and the political ideology of the modern Zionist regime, noting that many Orthodox believers oppose Tel Aviv’s policies. Lalezar’s initiative was supported by Homayoun Sameh, a representative of the Jewish community in the Iranian parliament, who called on state agencies to launch active operations, guided by the principle of “an eye for an eye and blood for blood” to prevent future threats.
