The Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church held a meeting with a hierarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church

The Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry, held an extended meeting in Kyiv with Metropolitan Gregory of Düsseldorf and Germany, representing the Serbian Orthodox Church. The conversation between the hierarchs took place on August 7, 2026, and lasted about five hours. Metropolitan Gregory reported this to on his Instagram account.

According to the Serbian Orthodox Church hierarch, the meeting took place in an atmosphere of mutual trust and brotherly love. Sharing his impressions after the meeting, Metropolitan Gregory noted the exceptional depth of the conversation, admitting that he felt “as if he were confessing his soul to a saint.” The hierarch emphasized that this visit to the Ukrainian capital held special significance for him, adding that the search for holy people justifies any distance.

As a reminder, the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Porphyry, believes that the persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is a temporary phenomenon that will end sooner or later. The Primate noted that in any confrontations between Orthodoxy and hostile forces, it has always been the Church that has prevailed.
