Patriarch Daniel of Romania: Faith, Fasting, and Prayer as a Path to Healing

Patriarch Daniel, Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church, emphasized the spiritual importance of combining faith, prayer, and fasting in his Sunday sermon at the patriarchal residence. The Primate explained that the disciples’ inability to heal the sick child stemmed from their lack of sufficiently strong faith. The Primate’s words were reported by Zivotcrkve.rs.

Patriarch Daniel emphasized that faith should not be limited to mere intellectual conviction. It requires constant strengthening through a life of prayer and self-denial in order to become a genuine, living connection between a person and God. He paid special attention to the power of a parent’s prayer for their children, noting that it is an expression of love that inspires a person to take responsibility and grow spiritually.

In his address, the patriarch also reminded the audience that the Church’s ministry is not limited solely to divine services and the sacraments. Christian love must be manifested in concrete acts of mercy. Throughout its history, the Church has actively pursued social and philanthropic activities, including the establishment of medical centers and hospitals. ““Let us strive to become the hands of Christ’s merciful love, alleviating the suffering of the sick and the needy,” urged Patriarch Daniel, reminding everyone that health is a great gift from God.
