A gay pride parade has been announced in Kharkiv, near the front lines

Representatives of Kharkiv’s LGBT community have officially announced plans to hold large-scale events as part of “KharkivPride 2026.” The program includes a charity and educational festival scheduled for September 5–6 and a closing march planned for the 12th. This was reported by kharkivpride.

As the organizers note, the main goal of the event is to remind the public of the need to respect human rights and to make the necessary changes to Ukrainian legislation. The activists’ main demands remain the legalization of same-sex marriage, official recognition of same-sex partnerships, and stricter penalties for hate crimes.

As a reminder, earlier, Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, held a meeting with representatives of LGBT organizations to discuss possible amendments to the draft of the new Civil Code. Activists stated that certain provisions of the document concerning the definition of family need to be revised and proposed enshrining in law provisions related to the protection of the rights of the LGBT community.
