The "Archbishop" of Canterbury expressed solidarity with Ukraine

Sarah Mallally, the “Archbishop” of Canterbury, through her representatives, assured the people of Ukraine of the Church of England’s support and solidarity in prayer, emphasizing that it is unacceptable to justify war as the will of God. In her message to participants at the National Prayer Breakfast in Kyiv, as reported by Christian Today, church leaders called for justice and an end to the suffering caused by the conflict.

The message from “Archbishop” Sarah Mallally, who was unable to attend the event in person, was read by Bishop Hugh Nelson of Worcester. In her address, she noted that prayer helps overcome indifference and strengthens the desire for peace, emphasizing that no war can be considered “holy” or an expression of God’s will.

As a reminder, the Anglican Church of Nigeria, the world’s largest Anglican community with more than 18 million believers, has declared its “spiritual independence” and severed communion with the Church of England. The reason for this decisive step was a deep disagreement with the liberal reforms being implemented by the Church of England, in particular, the decision to bless same-sex unions.
