Strict movement restrictions are being imposed in Uman due to the Hasidic pilgrimage

Authorities in the Cherkasy region have announced the implementation of special traffic restrictions in Uman from September 4 through 17. The restrictions are related to the annual Hasidic pilgrimage to celebrate the Jewish New Year.

According to , an order issued by Igor Taburts, head of the Cherkasy Regional Military Administration , will result in heightened security measures in the city. Law enforcement officers will set up reinforced checkpoints at key intersections and entry points, including the intersection of Horodetska Street and Maksym Zaliznyak Street, as well as roads leading from the villages of Rodnikovka and Horodetske. Specifically, access from the M-30 highway to Derevyanko and Orekhovaya Streets will be blocked, and travel on the Kyiv–Odesa highway toward the city will be permitted only upon presentation of pilgrim documents.

In addition to traffic restrictions, city authorities have implemented additional public safety measures. In the area of the pilgrimage, there is a strict ban on the sale of alcoholic beverages, fireworks, as well as knives, air guns, and other sharp or cutting objects.

As a reminder, it was previously announced that the traditional annual religious procession, which was scheduled to begin on August 19 from the Holy Trinity Brailov Women’s Monastery to the Pochaiv Lavra of the Dormition, will not take place this year. The decision to cancel the procession was made due to the state of martial law and a corresponding order from the Vinnytsia Regional Administration.
