The body of a Hasidic Jew from Britain was found in Uman during the Rosh Hashanah celebrations

During the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah, the body of a 45-year-old British citizen was discovered in a wooded area near Uman. According to The Jerusalem Post, the deceased was the father of seven children, and experts found signs of a violent death on his body.

At this time, Ukrainian law enforcement authorities have not officially classified the incident as a murder, though representatives of the local Jewish community are leaning toward that conclusion. Police are currently conducting an active investigation to determine all the circumstances surrounding the incident.

International organizations have become involved in the process of repatriating the body for burial. ““Representatives of United Hatzalah in Uman are working with the authorities to ensure that his body is transferred for burial as soon as possible,” commented Aaron Ben Harush, deputy head of the local branch. The ZAKA organization, led by Baruch Nidam, is also handling all legal matters related to the transport of the remains.

It should be noted that ensuring the safety of pilgrims in Uman is a top priority for local authorities; it was previously reported that a special National Guard unit had been formed to protect Hasidim during religious events.
