Key stages of the restoration work at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher have been completed

Researchers from Sapienza University presented a report on the progress and results of large-scale restoration work at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem. The presentation took place on Tuesday, September 8, at the Custody of the Holy Land, where experts summarized the work done to preserve this unique Christian shrine.

According to Orthodoxia.info, the meeting was attended by Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem, representatives of the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land led by Father Francesco Ielpo, and Bishop Gurion, representing the Armenian Patriarchate. During the discussion, special attention was paid to a rigorous scientific approach and the meticulous execution of all technical restoration processes.

Patriarch Theophilus III expressed his deep gratitude to the experts for their contribution to the preservation of the church, describing it not only as a monument to the Christian faith but also as a place that conveys the ideas of peace, reconciliation, and love to the entire world. At the conclusion of the meeting, the rector of Sapienza University, Professor Antonella Polimeni, presented the Patriarch with a commemorative scholarly volume titled “The Holy City” (Agia Polis), which provides a detailed account of the restoration work carried out.
