A concert of Baroque music was held at the St.Michael Cathedral in Cherkasy, which had been seized from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

A concert of Baroque music, organized by representatives of the OCU, took place at St. Michael’s Cathedral in Cherkasy, which had been seized from the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Under the cathedral’s arches, the musical ensemble “Noire” performed works by Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Henry Purcell.

The event took place within the cathedral, which OCU supporters and local authorities have designated as a “garrison church.” For the concert, a stage for the orchestra was set up in the central part of the cathedral, and seating was arranged for the audience. According to representatives of the OCU, holding such performances provides parishioners with an opportunity to “find time for reflection and to support one another.”

It should be recalled that prior to the forcible seizure on October 17, 2024, St. Michael’s Cathedral served as the main cathedral of the Cherkasy Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. The relics of the Venerable Martyr Makarii of Kanev were kept in this cathedral. Earlier, it was also reported that the Cherkasy Prosecutor’s Office had demanded that city authorities transfer the cathedral to municipal ownership.
