Six residents were baptized at an Orthodox church of the Russian Orthodox Church in Singapore

Last weekend, a significant church event took place in Singapore: six local residents were baptized in the Orthodox tradition. The ceremony was held on Saturday, October 3, at the Russian Orthodox Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God.

The sacrament of baptism was performed by the parish rector, Father Philip Callington. Marina, Nina, John, Longin, Edwin, and Avenir became new members of the church community. Father Philip shared his impressions, describing this day as “immeasurably filled with grace.” The day after the baptism, the newly baptized received Holy Communion for the first time during the Divine Liturgy, which was presided over by Metropolitan Sergius of Singapore and Southeast Asia.

It is worth noting that such events are not uncommon for this parish. We previously reported that the baptism of six men took place in this same church within this same community in January 2025. Today, Orthodoxy in Singapore is represented by two jurisdictions: the Russian Orthodox Church and the Patriarchate of Constantinople, which serves the faithful at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ.
