The court postponed the hearing on the case regarding the dissolution of the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church

The court hearing regarding the lawsuit to dissolve the Kyiv Metropolis of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has been postponed indefinitely. This decision is due to the need to transfer the case files to the Supreme Court for consideration of the appeal that has been filed.
According to Ukrinform, Archpriest Nikita Chekman, the attorney representing the UOC, confirmed the postponement of the proceedings. He clarified that the pause in the legal proceedings is due to a procedural requirement: the case materials must be sent to the highest court for review of the defense’s appeal.
It should be recalled that the legal dispute began after the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) filed a lawsuit against the Kyiv Metropolis. As the agency’s head, Viktor Yelensky, previously stated, the goal of these actions is to shut down the organization “ in accordance with legal provisions.”
