Patriarch Daniel of Romania congratulated the Georgian Orthodox Church on the 1,700th anniversary of its adoption of Christianity

Patriarch Daniel of Romania sent an official message to Patriarch Shio III of All Georgia, extending warm congratulations on the celebration of the 1,700th anniversary of the proclamation of Christianity as the state religion of Georgia. According to the Orthodox Times, the message was delivered by Archbishop Nifon of Targoviste, an honorary metropolitan and patriarchal exarch.
In his message, the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church noted that this anniversary is not only a tribute to the historical past but also an important occasion for strengthening the faith and fostering a responsible outlook toward the future. Patriarch Daniel emphasized that the spiritual heritage received from our ancestors must be carefully preserved and passed on to future generations, especially young people and children.
The message specifically highlights the contribution of Saint Nina the Equal-to-the-Apostles, the enlightener of Georgia, whose self-sacrifice played a key role in spreading the Gospel. The Patriarch of Romania recalled the difficult path of the Georgian Church, which, despite numerous persecutions, wars, and trials, managed to carry its faith through 17 centuries, preserving a priceless spiritual heritage.
In closing his letter, Patriarch Daniel expressed hope for the further strengthening of fraternal ties between the Romanian and Georgian Churches, calling for peace, solidarity, and the proclamation of divine love in the face of the contemporary challenges of the global world.
