Dzhankoy diocese announced that it remains in the same status

Representatives of the clergy, monastics and laity of the Dzhankoy diocese did not support the holding of the Council on May 27. The clergy remain in their former status and pray for the preservation of church unity, as well as for a speedy end to the bloodshed. This was stated in the statement of the diocese following the results of the Council.

“Given the pressure from representatives of schismatic structures, local authorities, the media on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and, based on the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church of May 29, 2022, the Dzhankoy diocese declares that it treats these decisions with understanding and especially prays for spiritual strengthening of our brethren.

The status of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is determined by the Diploma of His Holiness Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia dated October 27, 1990. We believe that the additions and amendments to the Statute on the Administration of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church adopted by the Council of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church need to be studied in the prescribed manner for their compliance with the aforementioned Charter and the Statute of the Russian Orthodox Church, according to which such additions and amendments must be submitted for approval to the Patriarch of Moscow and of all Russia,” the decision says.
